Llangollen Railway Trip
Club Outing: 26th September 2004
Nine club members set off at 9.00am on Sunday 27th September
2004 to the llangollen end of the Llangollen Railway.
We were fortunate to have a guided tour of the engine
sheds, led by one of the many volunteers who are working
on restoring many locos.
With plenty of time to spare (the trains don't run
that often) we split up, some sampling Tea at the Cafe,
whilst others took the opportunity to record the superb
location of the station, nestled on the bank of the
river.
We took the 1.30 train to take the beautiful 8 mile
ride to the end of the current line at Carrog, where
we had either 20 minutes or 2.5 hours!
With only a few buildings and a shop selling railway
books there was time to soak up the stunning scenery
and the silence.
We took the ride home, sadly too quick on the return
(as it is down hill). Took the opprtunity to see the
two trains depart from Llangollen Station before traveling
home.
To find out more about the Llangollen and the events
they have visit the Llangollen
website.
